Guide to managing the publications index
The goal of the publications index is to make our research readily available, publicly accessible, and easy to understand. We do this through Landing Pages and Publication Cards
Landing Pages
Landing pages are a single page dedicated to one research paper. It contains readily accessible content relevant to the paper such as a GitHub Repo link, a short explanatory video, and a short summary of the paper meant to be understandable even by those without a deep understanding of the subject. It also needs to include a link to the full paper on the publishers website as well as an easy way to cite the paper from the landing page.
Publication Cards
Publication cards appear on the Publication index page. These cards contain:
1) The title
2) A short description of the core contribution
3) The type of paper (journal/conference/white paper)
4) And optionally an image that helps convey the purpose of the paper
These cards are hyperlinked to their associated landing page. This allows a user to browse our research in an organized and easily digestible way.
However, in addition to the publication index, it is also important that we maintain a full chronological list of all the labs publications. This is linked on the left side of the Publication Index page. Dr. Mattson’s CV (found on his profile on the BYU website), is a great resource to use for updating the all publications page.
How to edit the landing pages and publication cards
Because the publication cards use HTML and CSS for their lovely formatting, here are some video guides to make it easy to edit without needing to look through the code.
